Hope
I find pictures that inspire me. Sometimes I find them so beautiful that I have to attempt to paint them. While painting them, though, they have a funny way of taking on their own destiny. I could have control over how they will turn out, but it is more fun to let it just happen. That is what happened with |HOPE|. I started with a photo from a friend, Partick Nord, from his first morning out hunting in the winter of 2018. The sky was breathtaking. After painting the sky, I got down to the foreground and needed color there; a creek started trickling through my mind and came out through my brush strokes. Then I was inspired to add some deer grazing on the right side of the piece. I personalized it with a buck, doe, and fawn, like my little family—myself, my husband, and our toddler. I love the process as much as the final piece.
24”x 1.5”x 24” Oil on canvas. Wired and ready to be hung.
